Newsvine.com (Domain) Worth $445,900.00
November 22nd, 2006

Today I came across this blog post and discovered a site called LeapFish, which estimates the value of domain names. Now, if you’re a big domain name squatter you might find this site useful, or at least entertaining, to figure out how much cashola you’ve got stowed away in your GoDaddy account. A quick search yields the estimate that Newsvine.com is worth a whopping $445,900.00, that’s quite a bit more than the $369 we snapped it up for.
An increase in value is expected, since we have built up a fair amount of traffic to this site over the past 8 months. But, an over 1000% increase in value is probably a bit overstated.
I also did a few other searches, out of curiosity. Even this little blog fetches a handsome $10,988.00, nothing to sneeze at.
Yahoo.com, the most visited domain on the web, goes for a whopping $46,918,286.00, roughly .001% of the company’s current market cap. LeapFish uses the following measures to determine the value of a domain name:
- Top Level Domain Name Score
Unwanted Characters Score
Length Score
Archive.org Score
Google Search Results
Yahoo Search Results
MSN Search Results
Search Engine Score
Of course, these estimates are not based on previous sales, etc., but it’s worth a passing curiosity to see how much your domain is worth by their estimate.
