Farewell Divester
February 1st, 2007
Today it is time to say goodbye to one of my favorite SCUBA sites on the web, Divester. The great crew over there is heading onto bluer pastures as a result of Weblogs, Inc. owner AOL deciding to shut down some of the less profitable sites in its network. I’m not sure what the economic effect will be on the 86 billion-dollar company, but fans of many specific interests will be sad this week as their favorite sites get sent off to the internet graveyard.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the fine individual contributors of Divester.
- Willy Volk – Mr. Prolific: Willy is a dive news finding machine. I can’t even keep up with all of his good finds, much less imagine how he comes across it all. I suspect he’ll still find a way to keep us up to date on all the stuff happening in the industry and in the world, relating to diving.
- Bill Reals – The Technician: Caves, wrecks and DPVs, this guy has always inspired me to keep on learning about the sport of diving. (Bill’s blog
- Eric Brodeur – Scuba-blogging Extraordinaire: Eric fortunately runs a pretty popular blog of his own, so I’ll be able to keep up on his writings with little interruption.
So long Divester Crew, and thanks for all the fish.
Update: Willy Volk can now be found at his new home, the X-Ray Magazine Blog, w00t!!!
