Diving the Warren Car - Lake Crescent
October 1st, 2008
This past weekend a group of Northwest Dive Club buddies and I headed out to the Olympic Peninsula to dive in Lake Crescent. This alpine lake is nestled in the Olympic National Park, a temperate rainforest and one of Washington State’s great natural treasures. Among the group of technical divers in attendance, we had four gentlemen who played various roles in the solving of a 72 year-old mystery, involving the disappearance of a young couple back in the late 1920s. A team of divers was able to discover the location of the submerged car that carried this young couple to their tragic deaths, so many decades ago. For more on the solving of the mystery, please read this article published by Northwest Dive Club Moderator and ADM Chief Staff Writer, John Rawlings.
Our dive took us down to 225 feet, for a bottom time of 70 minutes. I was diving a COPIS Megalodon CCR with trimix 10/56 diluent.

What beautiful photos you took of Russell and Blanche Warren’s 1927 Chevy in Lake Crescent. Isn’t it sad though that unauthorized diver’s managed to take away parts of their car for the sake of having a trophy from what we and others consider the gravesite of my husband’s grandparents. We would be happy to pay you for copies of any photo’s that you shot during your dive.
